Recently, Prof. Chang’s work on heterogeneous photonic integration “CSOI: Photonics beyond silicon-on-insulator” was reported by Optics & Photonics News in the form of the cover feature of the opening year 2022.

This is the second consecutive year (2021, 2022) that Optics & Photonics News reported on Prof.Chang’s related work in the form of a cover topic for the opening year. Following last year’s integrated optical frequency comb, this year’s magazine introduced a new type of photonics chip platform --- Compound Semiconductor On Insulator (CSOI), which is expected to break through the limitations of traditional silicon light in luminescence and nonlinearity. We believe that this technology will dramatically extend the capabilities and scope of advanced photonics beyond current technologies, offering a powerful complement to SOI-based photonics.
